Whipped SpackleEver wanted to make something and you open some of your supply bottles and you find it dried out?

I got this bottle in January and used it just a few times, just to discover it had dried out. I was so disappointed, as I loved it.

Does any one know what the shelf life is of Faber Castell’s Whipped Spackle?

Don’t you just love a tremendous learning curve!

When I decided to start this blog, it was mainly to give tutorials and start a SA based paper craft forum. In this past two weeks I have learned to create my own blog using worpress.com tools, then the Social groups followed. In between I had to post a few blogs to get all the introductions out-of-the-way, all done and dusted.

But back to the tutorials, from experience I like to read instructions and watch a video. So where to start? YouTube of course!

So ladies I have created that YouTube channel and learned to make a video, we are not totally professional yet but it will come.

With all the nitty-gritty stuff out in the open I hope to make my first tutorial video this weekend so that it will be available on Monday.

Have fab weekend. ⚛

Card Making

Cards, what a beautiful way to say that you care for someone by giving them a handmade card made by yourself.

I cannot described to you the satisfaction you gain by making a card, then give it to someone you care about and see a smile on their faces. To see a total stranger admiring a card you made. For me it’s just WOW….

For me card making is about the satisfaction of letting my creative spirit free and the love, hope and happiness that I spread with the cards.

The vast variety of techniques, mediums and tools available to us, card makers, makes it very easy to find at least one speciality, like stamping, quilling, teabag and Iris folding. Gosh if I don’t stop, I will go on about what is available and what are my favourite techniques, mediums and tools.

But I rather want to share with you the ladies who inspire me to get better and create more.

Scrapbooking

The art to preserve, present and arrange memorabilia in the form of a book, box or card.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The history of scrapbooking is fascinating. Starting in the 15th century, known as a commonplace book very popular in England and a way of compiling information like recipes, poems, letters and quotations. Like us ladies it evolved from friendship albums (similar to yearbooks) to include forms of journaling that included sketching and the using of memorabilia due to the lack of photo’s, it was not only functional but aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

As photography developed in 1826, it allowed the average person to incorporate photos into their scrapbook. Guess what? Ladies were not the only scrapbook keepers, one of my icons was a scrapbook keeper and scrapbook supply inventor. Mark Twain was not only known as an author but also for carrying scrapbooks on his travels and collected souvenirs, clippings and pictures. So Ladies if hubby complains invite him along to join you on your creative journey.

The scrapbook industry and hobby as known today was started in 1981 by Marielen W. Christensen and her husband A.J. when they published a how-to book “Keeping Memories Alive” and opening a scrapbook store in Spanish Fork.

Invention of computers, software, scanners and digital camera’s has taken scrapbooking to a new step, digital scrapbooking. So even those that hate sticky fingers and scissors can keep a scrapbook and share it online, thanks to the internet.

As I see it, there is no excuse to not  be creative. ⚛

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Mark Twain

Art Journaling

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI have only been art journaling for almost two years now, so really a novice. I needed away to test new products, techniques and ideas and keep track of it. Now I found journaling as food for my creative process.

I have come across this quote on one of my many hunts on the internet that really explain what art journaling is about.

“ Art journaling is about the creative process of pulling together colour, words and images as you wish on a page, like many other forms of art it is not about the outcome.” – Tammy Garcia

A lot of artists use art journaling on a regular basis, one such artist that I absolutely love and that is my inspiration was Leonardo da Vinci.

I just wanted to thank the following ladies that inspired and open the world to art journaling for me.

Sereana van As from Stencil-Art, she open the doors for me. – http://art-journaler.blogspot.co.za/

Jenny from Jennibellie Studio and her blog, newsletters, videos and free workshop. –  http://jennibelliestudio.blogspot.co.za/

Kristal Norton supply a free e-course about art journaling. –  http://kristalnorton.com/art-journaling-101/.

Keep those creative juices flowing girls. ⚛
